Sports betting within the United States is now legal, nationwide, thanks to the Supreme Court’s decision to repeal PASPA.
PASPA, The Professional & Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 has been in place and the law of the land within the United States over the last 25 years.
By repealing (PASPA) the Supreme Court decision ends Nevada’s sports betting monopoly and opens the door for all other states to get in on the action! The Supreme Court recognized by a vote of 7 to 2 that PASPA violates the anti-commandeering rules.
There are mixed emotions from professional sports betting leagues who were initially all against legalizing nationwide sports betting. That was up until just recently when both MLB & the NBA changed their stance and quickly and got on board! Other groups like the NFL, NHL & NCAA are rumored to soon join in the fun and get on board the sports betting gravy train.
Most states are merely taking a wait and see approach as to how this all shakes out. Rest assured that these holdouts will all soon join in as soon as they each decide how to tax and regulate legalized sports betting within their jurisdiction.
The pressure put on by New Jersey legislators over the last ten years virtually led the PASPAs demise. New Jersey indeed led the fight to overturn PASPA will be one of the first states ready to venture into legalized sports betting.
Bookmakers & offshore service centers like pph101.com were initially nervous about this decision and its overall effects. That was up until a few of the states rumored to be first-in plans starting unfolding.
As with most everything in the United States it is a safe bet that each states greediness will soon take over!
Offshore Bookies are now banking on each states greed and realize that by the time a state get done with taxing a bettors winnings, regulating payoffs and even raising the vig (in some cases up to -115) that there won’t be much left for bettors.
Local bookies are once again the overall best option for all US sports bettors!
